Q: I bought some CBD oil and noticed “Ahiflower” is an ingredient.
What is Ahiflower?
That is a great question!
Ahiflower is an herbaceous annual plant native to Europe and Asia, and is a relatively new cultivated crop in Canada.
Ahiflower Blooms produce up to four seeds that are harvested and pressed to produce a vegan oil rich in omega-3 fatty acids. This oil is then used as a carrier to deliver THC/CBD as an edible product to consumers.
Nutrition:
Ahiflower oil is high in Omega 3, 6, and 9 fatty acids.
The benefits of essential fatty acids are well documented and include healthy cell membranes, brain and nervous system function, thyroid and adrenal health and hormone production.
Educated consumers are choosing plant oils over fish oil because they do not deplete fish stocks, are sustainably sourced and have no fishy smell or taste.
You can find more information on Ahiflower as a novel food crop, on the Government of Canada website.
